GEORGE ALPHONSE KUFFNER July 28, 1934 - April 12, 2015 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear loved one, George, on April 12, 2015. George will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Cleo; daughter Diana (Ken Siebold); son Rick (Peggy Kuffner); grandchildren Shauna, Cheryl (Rohan Jeevarantnam), Kyle George, Beth and Nathan; great-granddaughters Sasha Amirah and Claire. Born in Romania, George came to Canada as a youth adopting Canada as his home. He joined the army as a young man and shortly thereafter he married Cleo. Thirty years of Honorable Military Service was followed by 20 years of criss-crossing North America while driving tractor trailer. Five of those years he partnered with his son-in-law Ken. After retiring, George and Cleo were able to enjoy a few years as snowbirds. Later George found he loved cruising the oceans. George's greatest love was spending time surrounded by the family he had created. George's legacy of military service was proudly followed by his son and grandsons covering three branches of the military in the Army, Air Force and Navy. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
