Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD ALLEN WOOD It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Allen Wood of Winnipeg on July 25, 2015. Richard passed peacefully on Saturday morning with his family by his side. Richard is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Rose, sisters Edna and Arlene, and brothers Russell and Arnold. Left behind is his loving wife Mavis, children Russell (Sandy), Darlene, Kathy (Dan), Karen (Glenn), Kimberly (Ward), Allan (Juliet), grandchildren Eric, Jason, Stacey (Mike), Kristel, Kevin, Steven, Zachary, Natalee, Jenna, Kassi, Riley, Ethan and Jack, great-granddaughter Katherine, brothers Melvin, Carl (Bonnie), sisters Maxine (Cecil), Margaret (Ed), sisters-in-law Marion (Arcadie), Brenda (Nick), Theresa (Larry), Charlotte (Gary), numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Richard spent 33 years in Snow Lake where he met and married Mavis and brought up their family. He retired from Hudson's Bay Mining and Smelting as a Foreman in 1991. Richard enjoyed golfing and fishing and travelling and loved to play Bingo. Richard was an active member of BPO Elks club and active in the community of Snow Lake. Richard continued this active role in the community when he moved to Winnipeg and spent many hours volunteering at the Dakota Community Centre where he was honored for his contributions. The most important thing to Richard was family, especially his grandchildren. He was never happier than when his house was full of kids. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Funk and the nurses and staff of 5E at St. Boniface General Hospital. You will be forever remembered as the Angels you are. The care, compassion, respect and dedication you showed Richard and family was greatly appreciated and did not go unnoticed. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., viewing from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society. Mavis and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. We have many fond memories of good times we had when we were young and foolish!
