Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I will always remember my Aunt Barb with great warmth and fondness from my childhood. My mother, Constance Bowman (nee Roberts) and Barb were childhood friends and remained close until Mom's death in 2002. The last time I saw her was when I went by her home on Fulham and we shared a visit over a cup of tea, about 12 years ago. Bless you all, Sandy, Trish and Rick and families! • My relationship with "Mrs. Wilson" goes back almost 30 years. I truly feel sorrow and loss. I will miss her dearly. We shared many similar interests and I will miss our many talks about family, and "THE LAKE". She especially glowed when she spoke of her precious great grandchildren. Often with update pictures in hand. My family and I will miss her brown sugar short bread cookies this Christmas. Trish, she was a special lady to me, thank you all. • Our hearts go out to Rick, Trish, Sandy and their families. Losing anyone is hard. Losing a parent, and losing your last parent, is even harder. Though we know it is an eventuality, that knowledge doesn’t ease the pain when the time comes and they leave our lives. And the void they leave behind remains in us forever. My sister Karyn loved her summers visiting at Victoria Beach as a kid. Barb was like a second Mom to her then. My Mom Beverley feels lost right now with the passing of her long-time friend. Barb was the first person she met when they moved to Winnipeg. Barb put her home economic skills to good use and taught Mom how to make jam, and how to hem. Over the years they shared many laughs and lots of fun on so many occasions, like when Barb and Dick visited them in Bermuda, and at Nelson Island. She will greatly miss their monthly telephone conversations. As for me, I fondly remember Barb as kind and caring, and a gentle soul that always had something nice to say. I looked forward to her cards every Christmas. They ignited within me warm memories of my childhood – a summer vacation at Victoria Beach – a Christmas on Fulton – time spent at the Winter Club – and the faces of these great friends of my parents who knew each other for more than 60 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Alison Gyles, Beverley Gyles and Karyn McFetridge - Posted by: Alison Gyles (Family Friend) on: Aug 03, 2015

  • To Barbara's family. I am so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. My daughters and I met Barbara through our involvement in Figure Skating. She always was very helpful, friendly, and so kind to us when I lost my Husband. My daughters and I always will have fond memories of Barbara. Take care.
