DOUG JACOBS On Tuesday, July 28, 2015 Doug was reunited with his brother Bradley, childhood friend Johnny and his grandparents as the result of an aneurysm at the Health Sciences Centre. Doug was a very thoughtful, loving, hardworking, always smiling son, brother, uncle and friend. He was always there for those he loved, never turned down an opportunity to help others and always knew the right words for any situation. He loved sports, had many hobbies, loved music especially playing guitar with his brothers, and will leave us with many fond memories from the hockey rinks, backyards, bike trails, job sites and school yards. He brought so many friends together, turned friends into brothers and made sure the family always cherished each other and did not take each other for granted. Doug was very skilled in his work as a plumber and worked with Rob at R. Jacobs Plumbing. A special thanks to J. J. and Garry plus subtrades at Judge Construction, Jerry and crew at Muys Construction, the Grindstone Boys, Anthony and crew at Zappitelli Properties, Will Giesbrecht, Steve at Sabourin Interiors, Dr. Terry Gwozdecky at Lakewood Medical Centre and James Marshall at TGFM, Tochal Inc., all staff at EMCO / Western Supplies and numerous other clients, General Contractors and subtrades. Everything was just falling into place for Doug. He was finally ready to accomplish his goal of owning a home in Fort Garry and all that was left was to find the right house where he could live his dream. He deeply loved his mom, Irene, and dad, Gerry, his brothers, Rob, Dave, Bradley, Paul, Steve, and Khris and sister, Amanda, as well as his sisters-in-law, Vanessa and Bambe, his nephew Carter, niece Danica and "My Beautiful niece Annie-Marie". His best friends, Scott and Lenny, were also brothers and sons to the whole family. He had a very special place in his heart for his dog, Sammi and loved all of his many other family and friends. He will be sorely missed. Doug was with his beloved brother and loved ones on that day. A very special thank you to Frank Rizzuto and Darcy Zeller. Words cannot express what it meant to the family to know he was with those who loved him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Church of Christ, 170 St. Mary's Rd. Whoever said " Time heals all wounds" obviously never met a soul as gentle, caring, and impactful as Douglas Andrew Jacobs. I grew up with Dougs older brother, Dave and spent a vast majority of my childhood with the Jacobs family. We used to refer to Doug as "little Doug" as I was given the nickname "Big Doug". I still remember playing hockey, soccer, Frisbee, Nintendo and everything with Dave, Doug and company as if it were yesterday. . . Doug and his younger brother Paul used to be so upset when it was bedtime and they couldn't stay up late hanging out and playing Nintendo with Dave and I. As the years went by I witnessed Douglas turn from a cute kid into an unbelievably great man. He excelled at everything he was passionate about whether it was music and learning how to play guitar or ice hockey. I was astonished at how good he became at both, albeit I shouldn't have been considering both of his elder brothers, Dave and Rob were great role models that he looked up to and loved very much. I remember how excited Doug was when he bought his first acoustic guitar, a black takemine, if I'm not mistaken. He always wanted to learn and jam and would ask me every time I seen him.... I really wish I could have one more session with him. I have heard that Doug was a great plumber and unbelievable hard worker as well and has touched the lives of so many people in such a profound, positive way that it is truly amazing. I am taken aback by how much my mother is affected by Dougs passing, as I never knew how well they really knew each other. It is a testament to who Doug was, he touched so many peoples lives in an unbelievable manner. Whenever I would see Doug to this day he still referred to me as "Big Doug" and when I would visit Winnipeg he would be so excited and wanted to hang out as much as possible. He often pestered me to move back to Winnipeg, in retrospect I wish I had even if it meant we could hang out even just one more time. He would always want to be on my team whether we were playing hockey at the club, pool at the pemby or whatever. He would refer to our team as team Doug.... ah, such a great kid. Considering I was awful at pool it really meant a lot to me. :) I have lost loved ones over the years, even great friends at young ages and it never gets easy but I feel such a poignant sense of loss from Dougs early, senseless passing that I'm truly incapable of understanding how his family must feel. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the Jacobs family members and Sammi! Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Doug Lawrie (life long friend. ) on: Aug 03, 2015

Though we only knew him a short time, Doug made such an impact on our family. He was a very hard worker and took pride in his job - admirable qualities. Doug was a kind and respectful man - a testament to how he was raised and to the family and friends he kept close. Aside from the great work he did for us, I will remember our talks about dogs and his best buddy Sammi. We are shocked and saddened by Doug's passing and offer our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: The Danis Family (Clients) on: Aug 02, 2015

I was never very close with you Doug but I always had a lot of respect for you and considered you a friend. I always looked up to you growing up and I don't think I've ever met a nicer person. Whether we were skateboarding or playing hockey you were always so happy and enjoyed life to the fullest. I can't stop thinking about how unfair it is that such a good guy was taken from us so soon. I know you would want us to go on with our lives and to be happy but it won't be the same without you. You were the heart and soul of fort Garry and we will never forget about you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. One of my (Robin) fondest memory lately of Doug will be him sitting on your porch playing the guitar and also taking his sidekick Sammi for a ride in his red truck. Sammi sure listened well to Doug and loved to ride shotgun. I know there are no words that can help make the loss of such a great guy. So that being said please know we want you to know we thought the world of Doug and will never forget him. You will get through this very sad time in time and you will always carry his spirit with you. We know he will live on in your hearts and will always be an angel watching over you. Please let me or Bill know if there is anything we can do or even if you just need to talk or want to talk we are right across the street. Our door is always open and we will always have a hug for you if you need. your neighbors/friends Robin & Bill - Posted by: Robin & Bill McCausland (neighbors friends) on: Aug 01, 2015
