KENNETH EARL SLATER December 9, 1947 - July 28, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Slater on July 28, 2015 peacefully at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. Ken was predeceased by his wife Carole, father Frank and step father Melvin Litchfield. He is survived by his mother Leapha (Don Goodman), his two daughters: Jodi (Ross Emms) and Laurie (Carl Nagtegaal); grandchildren: Brooklyn, Natasha (Braden Toet), Aaron, Jaiann, Meaghan, Rachel, Tamarah, and Kalli, plus great-grandchildren: Carmyn and Liam. He will be missed as well by his brother Floyd (Isabel) and sisters Marlene (Roy Wright) and Delores (Delbert Pickett) as well as some very special nieces and nephews. Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Ken grew up on a farm in Taber. He lost his dad when he was 4 years old. In his early teens he found his love for rodeo. He spent many years on the rodeo circuit and spent many years afterward telling the stories of his rodeo days. He always loved when young guys would approach him with rodeo questions, he could sit there for hours giving advice. Ken and family moved from Alberta to the Interlake in 1987. From there, they moved to the Inwood area in 1989. Ken farmed for the next 20 plus years before retiring. He will be remembered as an easy going character who loved to socialize and loved to tease people. He could never sit still and never stay home, as he was always out visiting and coffeeing with friends and neighbors. He will be missed in coffee shops and at poker games all over the Interlake. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Teulon Hospital for their care and support of both Ken and our family during this time. If friends wish, donations may be made in Ken's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. A service to celebrate Ken's life will be held on Monday. August 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Inwood Memorial Hall. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall 204 467 2525 mackhome@mts.net
