Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I had the honor of working for Gordon in the mid-1980's at the Manitoba Research Council. He was a gentleman, an intellectual and a leader. He taught me a great deal during my formative career years. Gordon and Ella were a charming pair, always gracious and supportive of everyone. Rest easy Gordon. It was a life well-lived. • We met Gord several years ago soon after he moved into Seine River Retirement Community. He was befriended by, and quickly became a very dear friend to our mother/mother in law Olive, and to our whole family. In short, we all adored him! He was extremely compassionate, and cared deeply for all of the friends he met at Seine River. Especially, he was a patient, caring, and nurturing friend to our dear mom! He was an advocate on behalf of his peers, and never tired of trying to make the world a better place for all of them. The last time we were able to visit with him in the Vic, we brought some ice cream and raspberries for him and Olive to enjoy together. It was a special day! Olive was happiest when she was with Gord. We will miss him deeply. He will always hold a very special place in all of our hearts. - Posted by: The Smith family (Friends) on: Aug 07, 2015

  • Gordon and I shared the same classroom from Grade One to graduation in Stonewall Collegiate. In the last number of years, we have renewed our friendship, shared memories and many a laugh by e-mail. I will miss him greatly. I send deepest sympathy to his family. • Over the years, Gordon and I walked hundreds of miles together on our street, an hour at a time. We talked about everything during those walks, shared a lot of laughs and solved every problem in the universe. Gord was an friendly, affable, intelligent man who spoke often of his children and grandchildren and especially his beloved Ella. He was a fixture at our block parties and was promoted to 'honorary guest' after he left for the Seine River assisted care facility. It was a pleasure to know Gordon. Wishing his family our deepest condolences, Michael and Barbara. - Posted by: michael seaman (friend/neighbour) on: Aug 03, 2015
