VERNARD RUSSELL MCCORD August 6, 1957 - July 13, 2015 Peacefully, following a lengthy illness, we sadly announce the passing of Vernard Russell McCord on July 13, 2015, with family at his side, at Carman Memorial Hospital, Carman, MB. Vern is survived by his wife Norma McCord, sons Chris Olford (Pam), and Sean McCord, his grandchildren James, Chance and Emily, his sister Rachel McCord of Chatham, ON, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Vern was predeceased by his father Leo Edward McCord of Holland, OH, and his mother Josephine Elizabeth McCord of Windsor, ON. Vern was born in Windsor, ON, on August 6, 1957. He moved to Winnipeg in 1984 where, on a blind date, he met his soon to be wife, they married August 10, 1985. Vern started working for Codville in 1988 and worked there though two name changes. Vern made a few good friends at Sobeys. Vern liked a wide variety of music from Motown to Heavy Metal. He loved to spend his summers at Woodlands Miami Beach family campground with his family, the dogs, the birds and chipmunks. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held August 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park", 1291 McGillivary Blvd., Winnipeg, with a private interment following. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Carman Memorial Hospital for making his last days peaceful ones and the ALS Society for their support. Donation can be made in Vern's name to the ALS Society of Manitoba or Carman Palliative Care.
