Born: Jul 14, 1928
Date of Passing: Jul 31, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMILY CORA PETTAPIECE (nee STENGRIM) July 14, 1928 - July 31, 2015 Emily passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at the age of 87 after a long battle with pneumonia. She was predeceased by her husband Nelson "Pat" Pettapiece, her parents Clara and Carl Stengrim and most of her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory son Brian (Betty), daughter Sharon Lee (Mel), son Keith (Cindy), son Wayne (Michele), daughter Judy, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister Anne Kowalak and many nieces and nephews. Emily worked hard all of her life to raise and provide for her family and we were never in need for anything. Some of her working career was spent as a nurse's aide at care homes, cafeteria help and cook, building cleaner along with raising the family. She did her best and we all love her for that. She grew up in the Robsart area of Saskatchewan and came to Winnipeg as a young woman. There she met and married Nelson who was in the army and ended up stationed in Shilo, Manitoba where her family started to grow. After our father's release, moved back to Winnipeg where she resided up to her death. In lieu of flowers please give to a charity of your choice. The family would like to give thanks to Grace Hospital, Deer Lodge Centre and the Charleswood Senior Care Home for all their help during her time with them. Cremation has taken place at her request and a memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn beside her husband. Reception to follow. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

Reading your Mom's notice, I was reminded of the numerous times that she and your Dad Pat would come out to our Springfield NDP meetings and socials over the years. Emily was always a warm and friendly person while she drove them around the countryside. My condolences to all her family. - Posted by: Georgine Spooner () on: Aug 06, 2015
