CAROLINE LOUISE STEFANYK (nee WAWRUCK) Our "Sweet Caroline" left us on August 2, 2015 at the age of 84. Carol was born on June 12, 1931 to Elsie and Steve Wawruck. Mom was predeceased by her husband John, her parents, her brother Joseph Wawruck, brothers-in-law Clare Martineau, Joe Sheward, sister-in-law Mary Sheward and niece Joanne Stefaniuk. Left to mourn her passing are her children Colleen and Dave Kroeker, Janice and Don Maskiw, Randy and Janet Stefanyk, her treasured grandchildren Blair Kroeker, Jordan Maskiw and Susie Krebs, great-granddaughters Candace and Kimberly, as well as her sisters Myrtle Martineau and Connie Hemmett, brothers-in-law Ken Hemmett and Joe Stefaniuk, sister-in-law Evelyn Stefaniuk as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She married John Stefanyk on September 9, 1950. Together they made an incredible team who built their family on a solid foundation of love, respect and hard work. Our home on Magnus Avenue was always open to friends and family. After John's passing in 1993, Carol remained in the house on Magnus until 1996 when she moved to Carriage House, then in January 2015 she moved to Deer Lodge. She loved her family and was so proud of their accomplishments. Her most favorite times were during small family gatherings celebrating all occasions with fun, laughter and poorly sung renditions of "Happy Birthday". We will miss her magical smile, and the way her eyes sparkled when she laughed. Carrie will be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, and true friend. A fabulous baker, talented ceramic artist, magnificent seamstress, and a master at crochet and knitting. We would sincerely like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge for their amazing care and compassion shown to mom over the past six months. Caroline so enjoyed her time at Deer Lodge. If you wish, donations can be made to The Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 0L3. Celebration of Life service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Annemarie MacIntosh officiating. Reception will follow. • Colleen, Janice and Randy: so sorry to hear of your mom's passing...she was a great lady and a good friend to Doris. - Posted by: Wally and Cathie Bailey (friends) on: Aug 10, 2015

  • Our condolences to the Stefanyk family. So sorry for your loss. When I opened up this page I instantly remembered your mom's smile. It was the same smile that welcomed me and my little baby Darlene into her home for a visit on Magnus Avenue in 1972. Her beautiful soul is now in the universe and her love will constantly surround you. Cherish the memories. My daily prayers include all of you, especially on Monday August 10th. Love, Ev and Frank Omand, Red Deer Alberta - Posted by: Evelyn Omand (Sister to David Kroeker and sister in law to Colleen Kroeker) on: Aug 08, 2015

  • Randy & Janet: I was saddened to learn of your recent loss. May your many fond memories of Caroline sustain you through what must be an extremely difficult time and bring you peace and joy in the years ahead. My deepest sympathies to you both and also to your extended family. Rosemarie - Posted by: Rosemarie Prokipchuk () on: Aug 07, 2015
