Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA GERMAINE PLANTJE (GAGNON) October 5, 1916 - July 28, 2015 Peacefully, with her family by her side, Eva Plantje passed away at the age of 98 years on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Left to lovingly remember Eva are her children, Barbara Taylor (Gary Garbutt), Betty-Ann Wiebe (David) and Bill (Jackie); her grandchildren, Marnie (Gerald), Nikki (David), Jason (Helen), Dana (Audrey) and Scott (Gen); her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Nick, Raisa, Alex, Brooklynn and Carson. She is also survived by her sister Leona Williams, and sisters-in-law Veda Gagnon and Doreen Gagnon, as well as many nieces and nephews and their extended families. Eva was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Bill; her parents Ludger and Angelina (Clement); her sisters Berthe, Julie, Millie, Jeannette and Toni, and her brothers Rene, Butch, Claude, Gerald and Cecil. Mom was born in LaBroquerie, Manitoba and, following the early passing of her mother, was cared for by her grandmother. She attended school in St. Boniface when she was reunited with her family. Eva was employed at the St. Boniface Sanitorium prior to her marriage to Bill on May 3, 1941. Bill and Eva raised their family in St. Germain. In 1961 they started their own bedding plant business, Bill's Greenhouses, which they successfully operated until their son, Bill, took it over in 1980. Mom and Dad took great pleasure in assisting with the business for many more years. Mom enjoyed her winters curling at the St. Vital Curling Club. She was also one of the original members of the Market Gardeners' Five Pin Bowling League at Dakota Lanes. As well, Mom was an active member of I.O.D.E. for many years. Handwork was Mom's favourite pastime, in particular knitting. Countless babies were the recipients of her beautiful knitted sweater sets. Above all, family was important to Mom and she loved nothing better than having everyone together for Sunday dinner. She never failed to greet everyone with a warm hug! Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Eva's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6, or to a favourite charity. MOTHER You can only have one mother, loving, kind and true, No other friend in all the world will be so true to you. For all her loving kindness, she asked for nothing in return. If all the world deserted us, to our mother we could turn. For those of us who have a mother, treasure her with care, For you will never know her value, til you see that she's not there. To hear her voice, to see her smile, to sit and talk with her a while, to be together in the same old way, would be our dearest wish today.
