MORRIS ROMANOFF SHIRLEY ROMANOFF So in love, so bonded and so inseparable in life and now in the afterlife. Shirley passed Saturday, August 8, 2015 and Morris passed on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Mom and dad are desperately missed by daughters Sharon Romanoff and Holly Romanoff-Coppens (Terry). Mom and dad are now with daughter Linda Romanoff who passed in 2011. Nanny and Grandpa are sadly missed by Granddaughters Dana Hangle (Paul) and Jessica Romanoff (Ryan). Also missing them are Great- Grandchildren Courtney, Dakota, Colby, Jess, Tommy, Cassie and Gabrielle. Mourning the loss of these two special people is dads' sister, Jean Romanoski plus many, many relatives and friends. Dad enjoyed an extensive and exciting musical career as a trumpet player in The Royal Canadian Air Force Command Band which took him to faraway places in the world. For many years dad played here with Ron Paley's Big Band, The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and with other local groups at special events. In 1979 dad was honoured with an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall for the 15th Anniversary of its creation in Monte Carlo in 1964. In attendance, to name only a few were US President and Mrs. Carter, H.S.H. Prince of Monaco, Yehudi Menuhin, Peter Ustinov and Jose Greco. Other great's dad was honoured to perform with Liberace, Arturo Sandaval, Sammy Davis Jr., Winton Marsalis, Harry Belafonte and the list goes on. Mom very much enjoyed retail sales and was a cosmetician extraordinaire! Moms' true career was raising her three daughters which she did with great care. As devastatingly sad as it is to lose both parents and grandparents at the same time, all of us know that the love they shared for 70 plus years is continuing on the next plane and that they are dancing to a big band orchestra in the sky. Funeral service is being held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I met Morris a few years ago when he asked me to do some work on his home. It wasn't long before I realized the times he was available were either early in the morning or later in the evening, to accommodate his daily visits to his wife. How fitting that they should leave this world together. His devotion and love was beyond admirable. Rest in peace... - Posted by: Dominic P (friend ) on: Aug 18, 2015

  • I knew Morris and Shirley from my Golden West Days. Morris was very devoted to Shirley. I admired his committment to his wife as he helped her live day to day surrounded by his love and committmnet. Morris and Shirley will be missed around the Golden West Hills. Best wishes to the Family. - Posted by: Michael Brwon (Friend) on: Aug 17, 2015

  • Moe was my ride to many Ron Paley Big Band rehearsals at the start of my career and was an incredible trumpet player and just a lovely human being. He was thought of with respect and affection by those of us still working in the field, and as recently as this week we were talking about his amazing trumpet skills - not knowing that he had passed away. He will be remembered and sadly missed. My condolences to all of you on your loss. - Posted by: Janice Finlay (friend and colleague) on: Aug 16, 2015

  • We knew his car and saw it every day, and marvelled at his devotion. - Posted by: Orma Irvine Sozansky (Witness to his years of devoted visits to his beloved wife. I live at 800 School Rd.) on: Aug 15, 2015

  • So many great times. Baking cookies with Nanny. Her giving me Scotch Tape bang trims while I squirmed. Listening to Grampa practice his trumpet and asking if I can play it too. The years we spent at Grand Beach. I could honestly go on forever. I'm lucky to have had two such great grandparents in my life. - Posted by: Jessica Romanoff () on: Aug 15, 2015
