KATHRYNE SUZANNE (SUZIE) BURROWS (nee QUAYE) It is with great sadness her family announces the unexpected passing of Suzanne on Sunday, July 12, 2015 after putting up a courageous fight to defeat leukemia. Suzie was born August, 14, 1949 in Winnipeg. Suzie was predeceased by her parents Grace and John Quaye, her brother Robert, as well as her in-laws, Norman and Ivy Burrows. Suzie is survived by her husband and soul mate of 42 years, Alan, cherished son Chandler and the center of her universe, grandson Tyler, as well as her brother-in-law John. She also leaves to mourn the children who added love and enjoyment to our family including Michelle, Len, Jim, Josh. Suzie spent her early childhood in West Kildonan before the family moved to Elmwood where she was known as "Suzie Q". While in high school she discovered her lifelong passion for the culinary arts, culminating in her teaching gourmet microwave cooking classes. Suzie had many careers including stay at home mom, business owner, teacher, foster parent, human resource specialist, and child care worker. She enjoyed all of them (kept her from being bored). The family moved to Oakbank in '79 where she was an active member of the community. After retiring Al and Suzie enjoyed Palm Springs and Wasagaming. Suzie was known for her unique sense of humour and her big heart. Suzie was a lifelong animal lover especially cats. She leaves to mourn her three cats, Mini, Percy and Lemon as well as Lotus the dog. The family would like to thank Dr. Szwajcer and all the staff at clinic 4, CancerCare as well as all the caring staff at GD6 and ICU, HSC. Family invites you to join them for a come and go reception from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I still remember being a young boy who just lost his home, showing up in the middle of the night at the Burrows home. Suzie welcomed me with open arms. Feeling like I just lost everything, Suzie put her arm around me reassuringly; she made me feel welcome, safe in her home and for that I’ll be eternally grateful…With deepest sympathies my heart felt condolences goes out to the Burrows family and the many children that took refuge in their home. - Posted by: Shannon (Foster Son) on: Aug 20, 2015
