MARJORIE (MARGE) MURPHY With deep sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Marjorie Murphy (nee Piercy) announce her sudden passing at Deer Lodge Centre on August 14, 2015. She is survived by her son Bill and daughter-in-law Kathryn; two grandsons, Shayne (Ashley) and Matt (Jackie); and great-grandson Levi; brother-in-law Jack Langtry, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 2008, her siblings, Sylva, Bill, and Jean; and her nephew, Butch. Marge was born on October 26, 1924, and grew up in the Stony Mountain area. She joined the RCAF during the Second World War and was stationed in British Columbia. Shortly after the war, Marge and George were married and took up residence on the family farm in Grosse Isle. Her home was often filled with the aroma of freshly baked buns or treats, and all those who came to visit or help on the farm never left her house hungry. Marge loved community life and enjoyed her involvement in the various events, activities, and groups Grosse Isle offered. She valued family and friendships and greatly enjoyed her time spent with others travelling, golfing, and socializing. The funeral service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall, on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff on Tower 5 Deer Lodge Centre for Marge's wonderful care over the past few years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation 2109 Portage Ave, Wpg., MB R3J 0L3, or a charity of one's choice.
