HAROLD KRISTINN FINNSON September 18, 1935 - August 19, 2015 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and Afi on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, in the St. Boniface Hospital. Harold was born in Vidir, MB where he grew up on a family farm with his parents, older brother Gustaf, and twin brother Halldor. He attended Lowland School to Grade 10. Following school, Harold farmed grains and oilseeds, forage, and later on also cattle, hogs and poultry, until his retirement in 2000. He farmed first with his father, and later with his twin brother. In addition to farming, he worked nine winters logging on Deer, Black and Hecla Island from 1955 to 1964. Harold married Geraldine Bjornson July 19, 1958 and together they raised four children. Dad took tremendous pride in his children and grandchildren, loving each of them for who they are. His favourite moments were spending time with family and friends playing cards, sharing a new joke, visiting and going for drives. Some of our fondest memories of time spent with Dad involved music, supported by his guitar playing. Playing the guitar provided Dad joy and comfort throughout his whole life. His family is grateful for the time spent with him and the life lessons learned from him. Harold was predeceased by his first daughter Allison; father Halldor, mother Ingibjorg (Emma) Finnson, twin brother Halldor; father-in-law Thordur Gudjon, mother-in-law Julianna Bjornson, sisters-in-law Gudrun Chapman, Alice Arthur, Norma Kirby, and brothers-in-law Asvaldur Bjornson, Bjorn Bjornson, Haraldur Bjornson, James Chapman, Robert Arthur, and Lawrence Kirby. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Donna and Armin Lach, Karen and Rob Riehl, Glen and Kathy Finnson, Kristinn and Lesley Finnson; grandchildren, Jeff and Eric Lach, Kaitlin and Kennedy Riehl, Drew and Mitchell Finnson; Alysha Finnson. He will be sadly missed by brother Gustaf and sisters-in-law Betty Finnson, Sigurbjorg Finnson, Virginia Bjornson, and Margery Bjornson. Harold's family thanks the Arborg Hospital and Assisted Living staff for their compassionate care. A special thanks to Kelvin and Gerry Finnson along with their daughters Kylee and Keely for their devoted friendship that brought much joy to Dad. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Arborg, Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 82 5 AVE, GIMLI, MB R0C 1B1 (204) 642-7124 neilbardalinc.com

  • Sincere condolences to all of Harold and Gerri's children and their respective families and also kind regards to Gus and Betty and family. Harold and Gerri were always wonderful to our family. At times like this we remember little things...Harold and Halldor tormented me throughout my childhood because I could not tell them apart until they were about twenty years of age. Blessings to all. - Posted by: Gayle Fortt [Finnson] (cousin) on: Aug 24, 2015
