SYLVIA MAUREEN VORAUER
Date of Passing: Aug 05, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySYLVIA MAUREEN VORAUER (nee THACK) Sylvia passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Peach Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC, at the age of 74. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of almost 50 years, Jack Vorauer, children Jacquie (Dan), Gordon (Jennifer), and Amber (Paulo), and grandchildren Noah, Vivian, Shyan, Daralyn, Draven, Brady, Brooke, Hope, and Tia, as well as by her niece Susan, and nephew Keith. Born in St. Andrews, Manitoba, during her youth she spent many happy years with family and friends at Winnipeg Beach. Sylvia's father Frank was very important to her and his career at Air Canada afforded many opportunities for travel with her mother Pauline and sister June. After marrying Jack and moving to Vancouver, where they raised their children, she continued to bring the family back to Winnipeg Beach during the summer for many happy times we all fondly remember. Most of her time out west was spent in White Rock where she enjoyed golfing and bridge and held a variety of office positions. She moved back to Winnipeg for the past several years to care for her mother. At that time she also started a new career as a medical transcriptionist and cherished spending time with her grandchildren here, Noah and Vivian. A graveside service at Winnipeg Beach Community Cemetery will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, followed by a memorial service and reception at Johnson Hall at the Waterfront Centre in Gimli at 12:00 p.m. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

It's been a "while" since we were classmates at DMCI, but I'll always remember Sylvia's big brown eyes and bubbly personality. She will be missed. Condolences to family and friends at her passing. - Posted by: Grace Nelson Ahrens (classmate at DMCI) on: Aug 22, 2015
