I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jim...as I just found out today I just want to say how terribly sorry I am to hear of his sudden passing. I met Jim 15 years ago and have fond memories of getting together with Jim and Nick together with my two sons and going out to movies and dinners together. Jim was a kind and caring man and a good father to his sons. Jim will be missed by all those who knew him. - Posted by: David Cancilla (Friend) on: Oct 19, 2015

I never really knew your father but I heard he was a talented man. I remember going to visit your place with your mom one day to see the beautiful house you were building with your dad. That is when I met him for the first time. Curtis and Nick, your dad has left you precious memories and has past on his great skills and knowledge you will cherish forever. What you have once enjoyed, you will never lose. I am truly sorry for your loss. God will definitely show you the way to smile again. My warmest condolences. My most recent and cherished memory of uncle Jim would have to be this past January. My dad had fallen very ill, and I found myself in a hospital very confused a very scared. Uncle Jim had come to the hospital to see dad as well, after visiting dad for some time uncle Jim and I decided to go for a little break and have lunch. We sat down and started to talk and our conversation started out pretty serious so we did share a few tears together, from there we did talk about Curtis and Nick and he did share some stories about them. We talked about were he wanted to travel and movies and music and he gave me advise on life. We laughed about some silly things from the past, but the best thing about this time together is he made me feel like things were going to be ok. That day I truly understood what the word (uncle) stood for. I am going to miss you and thank you for being part of my life. Love Brenda Sent from my iPad - Posted by: Brenda (Niece) on: Aug 26, 2015

What is the end of each mans toil Brother O Brother? Jim,always there, to lift me up when I was down to stand beside me when things didn't go well and help me understand to give me a smile whem I had none-and a hug too. His loving memory is my lasting treasure. Jim lived every moment engaged in life-well done my brother. I love you, Carol(sister) (What is the end of each mans toil is from the poem ANSWERS by Ella Wheeler Wilcox) - Posted by: Carol Bagdonas (Sister) on: Aug 26, 2015

I met Jim in Helicopter training school in Kenora. We went our separate ways as he found work with Viking Helicopters and I found work with another company. Last time I ran into him was when he was building his house in Tuxedo. He said he stopped flying and was working for Wpg. Transit as he wanted to be closer to home to be there for his family. He was a family man and enjoyed travelling with them. I will always remember him as being a great pilot. May you rest in peace and soar above the clouds. My condolences to Curtis, Nicolas and families. - Posted by: Charles (Friend) on: Aug 26, 2015

My sympathies to my good friend Pat and her family on this terrible loss. Over the years I have heard nothing but good stories about Jim and his sons, Curtis & Nicolas. Take comfort in knowing that although one has left the physical world, the memories are forever. - Posted by: Shelley (Friend of Jim's Sister - Pat Ryan) on: Aug 26, 2015

Jim was a very special person. He could always make you smile always see the good in other people. He has a special spot in my heart because the night my husband died he was there to console me and he was a terrific help so much so that I told him he would always have a special spot in Heaven Be at peace and say Hello to my husband for me. - Posted by: Diane Saunders (Cousin) on: Aug 24, 2015

Dear Curtis & Nicolas, My thoughts and prayers go out to you through this sad and difficult time. There is nothing I can say that will ease your pain, but I just wanted you to know that I will always be there for you. Your Dad loved you both so very much and was very proud of you. I know you will have fond memories of him going on trips together. I remember your dad as being full of energy and adventure. He had a passion for flying, riding motorcycles and travelling. He had a natural ability to design, build and fix things. May his eternal light shine brightly upon you both. Love, Mom - Posted by: Chris () on: Aug 24, 2015

I had the pleasure of meeting James a few times, as I am a friend of his son, Nick. James was always very kind to me, and I just wanted to say my heart goes out to Nick and his family, r.I.p James Ryan - Posted by: Danielle zamolski ( Friend of nick ryan) on: Aug 23, 2015

Uncle Jim made me feel like I'd known him my whole life the day we met. We joked around, goofed off, and shared a pint through 3 countries together. When John got sick in Ireland, he was my rock, taking care of me and helping me get my head together. He was full of life and was such fun to talk to with all his adventure stories and fast facts. Road trips will never be the same without him. I'm so honoured to have been one of the people he called family. - Posted by: Marcia (Niece) on: Aug 22, 2015

Jim was always there willing to help whenever asked and needed. He was our shoulder to cry on and our pillar of strength that helped us through some difficult times He would never give up, there was never a problem too difficult to solve nor an obstacle too big to overcome. Although his passing was sudden and too soon we can take some comfort in knowing that Jim left us doing what he loved, riding his motorbike down the highway on the road to a new adventure. Gone too soon, so full of life and adventure, Jim has left us all with each our own precious memories of him. I will always miss and love you Thank you for being my brother Sharron - Posted by: Sharron (sister) on: Aug 22, 2015
