NORMA BINGEMAN It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Norma Ruth Bingeman, at the age of 95, on August 30, 2015 at the Charleswood Care Centre. Norma was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. She was predeceased by her husband Reesor (2011) and her sister Lois Kendall (2006). She is survived by her children Blair (Valerie), Judy Iversen (Terry), Craig (Lorraine), Kendall (Deborah), and Patricia Buchanan (Ken) as well as grandchildren Kristin Bingeman (Jaya Surjadinata), Cullen Bingeman (Heidi Malazdrewich), Jennifer Iversen-Curry (Ian), Derek Iversen (Sarah) and great-grandchildren Esa Surjadinata and Adalynn Iversen. Norma was born in Truax, Saskatchewan in June 1920, the younger daughter of Frank and Edith Kendall. Her older sister Lois was a constant presence and source of love and support. Norma's family moved to Winnipeg in 1926. At age 15, she met her future husband, Reesor Bingeman, when they were in the choir at Kelvin Technical High. They were sweethearts for the next 76 years. Norma graduated in Home Economics from the University of Manitoba and completed her training as a dietician at the Toronto General Hospital. She married Reesor in July 1942 prior to his deployment overseas during the Second World War. She was a stay-at-home mother during her children's pre-school years, but after her children reached school age she re-entered the workforce. She enjoyed working as a substitute home economics teacher at various Winnipeg schools teaching cooking. Norma was extremely family oriented and was happiest when surrounded by family, whether it was a family get-together or going out for dinner. She also enjoyed spending one-on-one time with her 5 children whose interests she always supported. Norma loved playing bridge, and was a member of two women's bridge clubs that met monthly for over 60 years. She was an enthusiastic member and longtime supporter of the Women's Symphony Committee and was a Quarter-Century member of the Winnipeg Children's Hospital St. Agnes Guild. Norma and Reesor enjoyed all things musical, attending the Winnipeg Symphony concerts and going to performances at Rainbow Stage. They were dedicated Blue Bomber football fans. The Bingeman family spent many happy summers at their cottage at Victoria Beach. Norma and Reesor were members of St. Andrew's River Heights United Church for many years. Norma's children and family will always remember her strength and grace in dealing with the joys and sorrows of life. She always had a smile and complaints were rare. She was an inspiration to us all. The family is grateful for the exceptional staff at the Charleswood Care Centre who provided such wonderful daily care for Mom, and showed so much love and compassion to Mom and family during her last days. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for family will be held at a future date with private interment at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so wish a donation may be made to a charity of their choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I only had the pleasure of meeting Norma a few times, but she was such a support to Reesor. Without Reesor's leadership we would not have the transportation program for cancer patients. We owe much for their foresight and dedication. - Posted by: Lynne Billings (Reesor Bingeman was board member and founded Transportation Service with Masons) on: Sep 15, 2015
