WILLIAM CARTY It is with heavy hearts the family of William "Billy" Carty announce his sudden passing in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the age of 80. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Moya (née Devlin) Carty and will be lovingly remembered by his children Damien (Alice McKay), Azenda (Mark) Riggs, Barry (Trish - née Johnson) and his grandchildren Kaylene, Talen, Connal, Brennan, Caoimhe, Dolan, Conor, Aiden, Aibhlinn, Brannagh, Ceili, and Aela. He is also survived by his siblings Michael, Shirley, Marie (née Carty) Donnelly, Freddy, Phelim, and Mary, of Montreal and Cookstown. Billy will be missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Northern Ireland and England. Billy was born in Lissan, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He met his love Moya, and was married at Holy Rosary Church in Belfast. Billy and Moya moved to Canada with Damien and Azenda in 1975. Barry was later born in London, Ontario. William was predeceased by his parents William, and Rose (née O'Neill) Carty. Viewing will be held at the Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Father Sam Argenziano presiding. After the funeral, The Carty Family invite you to join them to celebrate William's life at the Irish Association of Manitoba, 654 Erin St. Interment will take place at a later date at the Old Cross of Ardboe, Co. Tyrone where he will join his wife Moya. For those wishing to do so, donations in William's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St. Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6. We will miss you Billy, your hearty laugh, your stories and your interesting use of the English language (what we understood of it anyways!). We have many great memories going to dance feis' and your commitment to video taping all our performances. Azenda, Barry, Damien and family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Billy. He was always such a cheery sarcastic guy to be around and always made me feel at home whenever I was in the Carty house or babysitting Connal and Brennan. Billy, thank you for your stories, and all the laughs. You were so kind to me and I am forever grateful. The memories I have as a child in your home and Ireland stay with me forever. You will be missed by all who loved you. Rest in peace with your beloved, Moya.
