ROBERT HARVICH July 29, 1935 - September 4, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Robert Harvich. He is survived by his wife Yvonne, of 45 years of marriage, children Rob, Terrapin, Karen, and Pamela, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was born in Winnipeg, and as a child he loved painting, writing, and chemistry. Bob was proud of his achievements in the field of cold light, he had the idea from observing fireflies. As a young man, Bob loved playing the clarinet for a local military band but had to give it up when his two front teeth were knocked out. Everyone knew this because he loved to tell stories. Bob loved exploring and adventure; camping, canoeing, fishing, and hunting. Bob spent one year with the Winnipeg Police Force, he then decided to follow his true passion of having his own business selling hunting supplies. Bob was very proud of his writing and being publicized in Big Fin magazine. His drawings and stories were always sent in the yearly Christmas cards. Bob was a great salesman, he enjoyed meeting new people and making friends. He also enjoyed his solitude at the cottage. While he was alone he enjoyed painting, and his works will be forever enjoyed. He loved woodworking and he was skilled enough not to even need building plans when constructing the gazebo. He will be lovingly remembered and missed. A memorial will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on September 11 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I had the honor of being one of his black powder hunting group for many years. He always had an amusing story to tell when we were back in the cabin, and was famous for going to "take a look" after we called it quits for the morning or evening shoot, usually showing up 3 hours later. His gentle humor and quick wit and helpful demeanor was always a high point of the hunt. I hope Heaven has long hikes in scrub and brush for him, and lots of game to hunt. RIP, Bob.... you will be missed by so many! - Posted by: Glenn Seifert (friend) on: Sep 13, 2015

  • Bob was a lovely man his voice and laughing eyes are what I remember of him. I will miss his letters he always had a story to tell. I'm sure he's up there right now telling St. Peter a joke or two. I will miss him very much. Robby - Posted by: Roberta van der vliet (Cousin) on: Sep 10, 2015
