Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEGGIE SISSON (nee WOOD) Peggie Sisson passed away peacefully in the early hours of September 9, 2015 at the age of 93. She was born Margaret Wallace Wood in Berwickshire, Scotland on March 31, 1922. She leaves to celebrate her life her husband; 10 children; 29 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Robert; siblings, Nett, Bob, John, Bill and Mary; and grandson William. Peggie arrived in Halifax, Canada as a war bride having married A.B. (Scotty) Sisson in Eccles, Scotland on June 19, 1945. They settled near Scotty's family in Wingham, MB then moved on to Elm Creek 15 years later. Amazingly, Peggie was able to raise 10 children without ever raising her voice. Indeed her characteristic lilt was a delight to all. She loved the outdoors and kept everyone busy with her gardens and orchard. Peggie was a good photographer and held many enjoyable slide shows. Her photo collection included her travels to Scotland, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and across Canada as well as many nature shots, notably clouds and sunsets. Peggie and Scotty instructed and performed old-time traditional dancing, square dancing, and round dancing for many years starting in the 1970s. They instructed at the Laverendrye Club in Winnipeg and throughout southern Manitoba and thoroughly enjoyed all the wonderful lasting friendships made along the way. In the early 1980's when Peggie and Scotty decided it was time to build the golf course, she jumped in wholeheartedly and began clearing out vegetation along the creek creating scenic vistas for all to enjoy. It was also through the golf course that they made many wonderful lasting friendships. Peggie loved having her family around and this past June she and Scotty celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with many of their family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elm Creek Community Hall with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all. "Just living is not enough, said the Butterfly. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower." (Hans Christian Anderson) Doyle's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralchapel.com
