Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE BARBARA SIMPSON (nee KURTZ) Peacefully, on September 6, 2015 at Riverview Heath Centre, Marie passed away at the age of 101. Marie is predeceased by Roy, her husband of 60 years; her daughter Barbara (Gerry); her son Roy (Janice); and her siblings, Evelyn, Gordon, Ernie, Charlie, Andy, Paul and Bill. She is survived by her brother Wally; sister Chris; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lonny), Andrew (Lisa), Colleen (Jarrad), Mathew (Katie) and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Grandma was born on April 10, 1914. She was the third eldest of the 10 children born to Andreas and Carolina Kurtz (nee Buffi). Marie grew up in Winnipeg; she and Roy were married there in the summer of 1938. Marie and Roy resided in St. Vital for most of their married life, where they raised their family on Fernwood Avenue. Marie loved entertaining friends and family at her home. She was an avid bingo player, and she and Roy looked forward to escaping winters during their annual trips to Lake Havasu, Arizona. After suffering a brain aneurysm, Grandma relocated to Riverview Health Centre, where she resided for the past 16 years. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Heath Centre ward CD2 for their excellent and compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1541 St. Mary's Rd. A light luncheon will follow. Private interment will take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
