ROBERT EDWARD MCNAMEE January 12, 1939 September 10, 2015 It is with deep sadness and sorrow we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) McNamee on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the age of 76 years. He will be forever remembered by his son Darrin, grandson Ryan, sister Maureen, and other family and friends. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Janet (2002), mother Marion (2006), and father Edward (1984). Bob was born in 1939 and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He grew up in West Kildonan where he played hockey and won many city championships and scoring titles. Bob attended Victory School where he met the love of his life, Janet, at the early age of 14. Throughout the years their love grew and on June 11, 1960 they were married. It was around this time that Bob started working at the Winnipeg Free Press as a computer technician. He was very good at his job and was the guy his coworkers went to for help. Bob took pride in his work and always made sure the paper got out the next day. After 46 years of being with the Winnipeg Free Press, he retired in 2004. He also took pride in coaching minor hockey. He enjoyed coaching his son's (Darrin) teams. His greatest accomplishment as a coach was his 16 year old 7 Oaks Raiders where they made it to the division finals and won multiple tournaments that year. When Mom passed away in 2002, a large part of Dad's heart went with her. He tried but his world was never going to be the same. Now they are together in Heaven; living, loving, and laughing once again. Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A special thanks to the Emergency, ICU, and 3rd floor Unit 7 staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and compassion during a difficult time.
