ROSAIRE GEORGES PELOQUIN
Date of Passing: Sep 15, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSAIRE GEORGES PELOQUIN On September 15, 2015, after a short illness Rosaire Georges Péloquin passed away peacefully at Poseidon Care Centre, three weeks short of his 93rd birthday. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Lilianne in 2008, his brothers Laurent, Léo, Roger and sisters Lucille, Odile and Orise. He will be sadly missed by his sons Raymond (Danielle) and Rénald (Lynne) and grandchildren Jean (Victoria), Patric (Azra), Renée, Christian and his sister Henriette Burdeiny, along with many family and friends. Rosaire was born in Ste Agathe, MB. where he worked with his father and brother Laurent on the farm. He was called to duty for the Second World War where he spent three years with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He served with pride, though those years were kept close to his heart and seldom discussed. On his return to Ste. Agathe he met the love of his life Lilianne and they wed October 18, 1947. They tried to make a living farming however the uncertainties wore thin on both of them. During those years he commuted to Winnipeg where he worked as a truck driver for Bird Construction. In 1964 they decided to give up farming and moved to St. Boniface with their young sons. Rosaire loyally worked 40 years for Bird Construction until his retirement at the age of 65. Even with his long hours at work, he always attended his sons' hockey games, sometimes being the only parent in the stands or on the snowbank. He continued this devotion and love of sport with his grandchildren, be it fishing, camping, baseball, hockey or simply a lunch out... he loved a good lunch! Let's face it he just loved the conversation and companionship. Papa and maman enjoyed living at the Foyer St. Vincent, and later Papa appreciated his time and independence at Villa Aulneau. Our family would like to thank the staff at Villa Aulneau, Guy and Suzanne, the staff at Poseidon Care Centre, especially nurse Dianne. Also a big thank-you to Bird Construction for showing their appreciation of Dad's work ethic by inviting him to their annual Christmas Banquet. In the later years, pépère enjoyed attending with his date, his granddaughter Renée. Tu es rendu, Lili t'attend. On t'aime beaucoup. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday September 21, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Paroisse Precieux-Sang, 200 Kenny Street. Private interment at a later date. I did not know Mr. Peloquin for a long time, only a few weeks. My French is not great, but I do like to take an opportunity to use it when I can. When I would greet him in the mornings, I would use my French, and Mr Peloquin perked up, looked my way and answered so loud and clear! Such a kind man, and his family take after him. - Posted by: Nurse Dianne (nurse of Mr. Peloquin) on: Sep 30, 2015
