IRENE LYON (nee LACEY) Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, Mom passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015. Profoundly missed and forever loved by her children Brent (Laurel), Debbie (Bruce), and Scott (Dawn), grandchildren Todd, Krista, Andrew, Brett, Jonah, and Cameron, and great-grandchildren Sofia, Harryson and Roxanna. Irene was predeceased by her husband Russ in 1995. She blessed us all with her unfailing love, wisdom, wit and many valuable life lessons. Irene was born in 1930 in Lauder, Manitoba. She met Russ while working at BF Goodrich and they married in 1951. Irene spent 17 years at Athlone Elementary School as secretary. In 1984, Russ and Irene retired to Lee River, and Irene became a dedicated volunteer at the Lac du Bonnet Regional Library. She deeply loved nature and participated in the Canadian Lakes Loon Survey, Manitoba's Nocturnal Owl Survey and the Manitoba frog-watch project for many years. We will be forever grateful to the staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care and support. We will celebrate Mom's life with a private graveside service at Waverley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Regional Library. Dear Debbie, Brent and Scott, and families, My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to you all at this sad time, the passing of your lovely mom. I have many wonderful memories of spending time at your beautifully furnished home with you, Debbie, and your family. Your mom was always warm, cheerful, friendly, and classy. I remember how your mom often generously trusted us with her Firebird to go to the A&W drive-in. I will never forget your mom's culinary expertise and especially enjoying a fabulous roast beef dinner at your cottage. And I will always treasure the feeling of welcome, acceptance, and support, especially during my teenage years, from your mom and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sincerely, Glenys Robinson - Posted by: Glenys Robinson () on: Sep 27, 2015

Brent and Laurel, It was with incredable sadness that we today learned of your loss. And while there are no words that can ease your pain, please know that you are carried in our thoughts and prayers, and also in those of the many people who knew your Mom. She was a gentle soul, and a special individual, and her precious gifts will always live on in you. She is soaring with the eagles now, and watching from above. Thinking of You Both!
