SISTER THERESE GAUTRON (Sister Thérèse-André) 1925 - 2015 On Friday, September 18, 2015, Sister Thérèse Gautron passed away at the Concordia Hospital. Although she had been ailing for some time, her sudden death was shocking to most of us. She was predeceased by her parents: Alexandre Gautron and Marthe Joly; her sister Solange, her brothers: Jean, François, Pierre, René and sisters-in-law: Marie Dedieu, Marie-Paule Arbez, Rita Galant and Lucienne Leclerc. Apart from the members of her religious Community, she leaves to mourn her Religious Sister: Sister Marie-Ange Gautron; her brothers, Roland, André, Yves; and sister-in law: Lucienne Landry, as well as nieces and nephews. Sister Thérèse was born in Haywood, MB on October 18, 1925. She studied in Haywood. After her schooling she joined the family business in Haywood, working in the Post Office and General Store where she learned how to deal with the Public. Her parents having come from France, instilled in her an appreciation of the French culture. She began her religious formation with the Congrégation of the Filles de la Croix in 1957 and made her final vows in 1964 in Saint Boniface. Following her Final Vows, Sister Thérèse served in many communities: St. Adolphe, St. Malo, Willow Bunch and Bellegarde, SK and in Saint Boniface. She was involved in a variety of services such as preparing all that was needed for the Church services as sacristine, or cooking for the sisters, sewing, and especially, enjoying driving the sisters to their many appointments. In 1973, Sister worked at the St. Boniface Catholic Center as audio-visual technician providing the various audio-visual materials to the various parishes of the Diocese. She also continued in this line of work with the Adoramus Ministries. In her later years, she took on quilting, embroidery, crochet: the sale of which helped the needy. She very much enjoyed listening to music, reading, viewing films and especially contact with her family and friends. We will remember her as a kind, considerate and compassionate person. She loved community living. The family and Sisters want to thank the personnel of Villa Aulneau for their loving care and friendly relationship with our Sister. The Funeral Mass will be held at Villa Aulneau, 601 rue Aulneau, on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Father Robert McDougall will preside. Burial will follow in St. Adolphe Cemetery.
