GRACE KATHLEEN FUNK Formerly Cobb (nee FRASER) 1921 - 2015 On Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Grace Hospital, Grace Funk passed peacefully at the age of 94. She was beloved mother of Gary Cobb (wife Bonita) of Winnipeg and Valerie Taylor (husband John) of the Bahamas and step- mother to Wayne Funk of Abbotsford and Keith Funk (wife Vicki) of Kelowna. Also surviving are her much loved grandchildren, Bryan Cobb (wife Ashley) of Winnipeg, Carley Taylor (husband Nate) of Boston, Christine Taylor of Burlington, Brittany Taylor of Vancouver and Savannah Funk of Vancouver. She will also be much missed by her cousin Gail Gowanlock of Winnipeg and her sister-in-law Verna Funk of Surrey BC. Grace was predeceased by her first husband Albert Cobb in 1973, her second husband Lawrence Funk in 1995, and her brother Stanley Fraser in 2010. Born in Homewood, Manitoba to Claire Alma (Kemp) Fraser and Frederick Cramond Fraser, Grace grew up in Winnipeg and Calgary. After graduating Crescent Wood High School in Calgary, Grace worked for four years as a stenographer and office manager for Highwood-Sarcee Oils Limited before marrying her first husband Albert Cobb on June 3, 1944. Their honeymoon at Winnipeg Beach was interrupted when Bert's leave was cancelled due to D-Day. Grace and Bert moved frequently in the early years, then spent 11 years in Kingston, Ontario, before returning full time to Winnipeg in the summer of 1960. Grace was a devoted wife and mother during these years and very involved with the church and community. After being widowed in the spring of 1973 she married her second husband Lawrence Funk on September 4, 1976. Grace and Larry enjoyed years of travelling, spending their winters in Hawaii and Arizona and their summers golfing in Winnipeg. After Larry's death in 1995 Grace continued with her love of travelling and golf as long as her eyesight permitted. Grace will be sorely missed by her family and many friends she has been an inspiration to all that knew her on how to live life to the fullest with class and dignity. A Memorial Service will be held at Sturgeon Creek United Church on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Grace Hospital Foundation would be deeply appreciated.
