Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am sending my deepest sympathy to Mrs. Val Crowe and Mr. Crowe's immediate family and friends. I cannot refer to him as "Phil", as my late Father Samuel Yaremchuk was the Principal and also was a Teacher along side Mrs. and Mr. Crowe at Baldur Consolidated School. Dad also insisted we call all teachers and adults for that manner by their formal name; thus-Mr. Crowe it was; and will always be. Mr. Crowe had "cool factor". He was so enthused about teaching us all about Science, Physics, Biology, etc...myself-I just wanted to get to English class to write; which in turn-was what I ended up doing as a Journalist in radio, TV and print for 20 plus years. But,I regress.... Mr. Crowe was a remarkable leader in the classroom, he gave us enough rope to metaphorically "hang ourselves"; but we respected him too much to do so. One Halloween, we dragged a group of bales, and placed them covering his window-his classroom overlooked the athletic field. I believe we were in grade 9; we were rascals-we did other things to those bails-that I cannot mention here, but on November 1st, Mr. Crowe looked at the bales covering his view-shrugged his shoulders and closed the orange drapes. We were stunned! My Father-however did find out who was responsible-and we were reprimanded by Mr. Yaremchuk our Principal, and let me tell you-I received a double time out when I got home! Mr. Crowe-you inspired a group of young wide eyed teenagers with your love of your chosen field of education, your passion for learning, and your love for all of your students. God Bless your journey to the next life, you deserve all of life's riches on the other side. My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Crowe and her family, our life was made better by Mr. Crowe being in it. Thank your Mr. Crowe by simply being-you. Love and light. Shelly Brown nee Yaremchuk of Toronto - Posted by: Shelly Brown (Former student at Baldur High school, Baldur, Manitoba) on: Sep 24, 2015
