ALEXANDRA B. CAMERON (SANDY) Our beloved Auntie Sandy began her life on January 7, 1926 and finished living, peacefully, on September 25, 2015 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Her career included 30 years and 10 months at Air Canada in both Winnipeg and Vancouver before retiring as an International Reservation Agent in 1985. Her life style was one of "Joie de Vivre" and Sandy loved to travel around the world sharing the exotic experiences with many friends. Our family's own "Auntie Mame" could hardly wait to regale us with stories of her travel and gift us each with some small memory of that trip. Sandy always brought joy to everyone she touched, family, friends, workmates, even the person in front of her in the line of the grocery store. She was unique and a joy to know. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her sister Rosalie McLoughlin, her many nieces and nephews: Kym Wiebe (Ed), Susan Townsend (Tom), Stacy Pendree (Warren), Joan Green (Vern), Shaun McLoughlin, Brett McLoughlin (Debbie), Blair McLoughlin (Alise), Paul Werry (Beth), Alan Lowery (Pam), Grant Lowery, and a whole bunch of grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at West Park Manor for their tender loving care and close family contact during the 14 years Sandy considered that to be her home. Sandy has been cremated and an interment with family will be held at a later date. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Phone 204-943-6622 or 1-800-378-6699. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 204-783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapels.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I remember the days when we worked together at the YVR CSO. It hardly feels like so much time has passed. I'm sorry to hear but more so to not have heard until just now. My condolences to Sandy's family and friends .... - Posted by: Gord Swanson (Co-worker) on: Dec 17, 2015

  • We had a lot of great times at Vancouver ticket office - and at many parties! - Posted by: Susan and Bruce Stout (friend and colleaque) on: Dec 17, 2015

  • What a great photo! That is Sandy, with a twinkle in her eye and a sassy comment on the tip of her tongue! I worked with Sandy in Winnipeg and she briefly lived with me (and Joan) when she first moved to Vancouver. And latterly, we worked together in the city ticket office. Everything she did, she did with verve, panache and style. To be perfectly honest, when she entered a room, her presence was always noted...bracelets jingling, curls bobbing, scarves trailing, and her husky "Auntie Mame" comments trailing behind her. A singular force and unique! She did it her way. And that is the way I will always remember her. To Rosalie( who I felt I knew through Sandy) and her nephew Shaun ( who Sandy introduced me to and became our insurance agent for years) I send my sincere sympathies. - Posted by: Carol Ann Jackson ( Layng) (Friend and colleague) on: Dec 17, 2015
