JOAN LEONG Peacefully, on September 29, 2015, Joan Leong, aged 86, passed away at Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen (Ada), Stanley (Ivy), and Tom (Kitty); her grandchildren, Melissa (Sean), Darren, Anthony (Edith), Colby and Tiffany and her great-grandson, Jet. She was also survived by her brother, George (Judy) and his family. She was predeceased by her husband, Quon, in 1987. Joan was born in Toishan, Guangdong, China. In 1964, she immigrated to Canada to be reunited with her husband and to provide her three sons with better opportunities. She found a job in a sportswear factory as a seamstress and worked there for many years and made many lifelong friends. She inspired her family to be hard-working, kind and generous and she took great pleasure in simple joys including gardening and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and most recently her great-grandson. She will be sincerely missed by all. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff members at Health Sciences Centre Unit CCDU for their care and compassion. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery). Viewing will commence at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Dear Stephen, Stan, Tom and Family. We are sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. She was a wonderful person and always with a twinkle in her eyes. Although it has been awhile since I last saw her, I will always remember her generosity when she shared with us the rewards of her garden as well as her hospitality on Washington St. when I visited with my mother and sister. She will be missed. With condolences, Lily Green and Family - Posted by: Lily (friend) on: Oct 05, 2015

Although we are saddened by the death of Joan, we are very happy that she died peacefully with her loving family at her side. She was a charming and wonderful person who we did not see enough of because of the great distance between us. She kept in contact by telephone, and we will greatly miss her calls. We have kept Joan and the family in our prayers. We are also thrilled to hear about the new great-grandson! Life brings us much joy, even in sadness. God bless everyone. - Posted by: Judith and George Jung and family (brother and his family) on: Oct 04, 2015
