DIANA SAWICZ Passed October 5, 2015 at Concordia Hospital due to complications following a heart attack. She was born to Charles Riediger and Stephanie Riediger (nee Holodnuk) on May 21, 1935. "Diane" was born and raised in Winnipeg, but enjoyed her vacation getaways and time at the family cabin in Winnipeg Beach. She worked for a time as a teller but soon had a chance encounter with a handsome young shoe salesman who ended up selling her a pair of boots and a nearly 50 year marriage. She enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, doing puzzles, drawing and painting. She spent her days caring for those she loved. She is survived by her daughter and son, Andrea and Darren Sawicz, and by her brother Danny Riediger. Thank you to the staff at Concordia for your hard work, courtesy and care. Thank you also to the friends and neighbors who went above and beyond to help so very much. A private family interment has taken place. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Wpg, MB,R3E 0V9 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Wpg, MB, R3T 9Z9. So sorry to learn of this. Your Mom worked with mine, many moons ago! Your family also bought one of our dog's pups, and named him Danny's Boy Crackers! Out of the blue, she called to chat a handful of months ago, and we talked about my Mom, who passed away 8 years ago, and what we have all been up to.
