Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTON (TONY) MEIER January 13, 1930 October 7, 2015 On October 7, our beloved brother, husband, father and Opa, passed away peacefully at Oakview Place. He will be especially missed by his wife Lou, son Peter and partner Doreen, daughter Susan and husband Rob Puls, grandchildren Christa and Eric Meier, Carly Puls, Haley Silver (Puls) and her husband Scott. He is survived by his brothers, Franz, Erhard, Erwin, Konrad, Albert and Josef, sister Loni and predeceased by his sister Theresia. Born in Wiesenhofen, Bavaria, Germany, Tony ran the family farm until he immigrated to Canada in 1951. Tony learned English while working on a farm in Goodsoil, Saskatchewan and then moved to Winnipeg where he married his love, Lou Knoll, and started a family. Tony had a very successful career in the printing industry where he took great pride in his accomplishments and the men he mentored. You would never meet a happier, more enthusiastic and energetic person than Tony. He loved nature, animals, the cottage, his family and friends. He was up early every morning, living life to the fullest, and always with a big smile. Opa, as he was fondly known to his family, took great pleasure in the church they helped build, singing in the choir, and dancing at all the functions. A funeral service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, on Saturday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. On behalf of Tony, Lou and the entire family, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for the wonderful, compassionate care provided by all the staff at Oakview Place. They were truly amazing. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
