JOSEPH JEAN JACQUES PERREAULT Suddenly on October 8, 2015, at Ste. Anne Hospital, Joseph Jean Jacques Perreault, passed away at the age of 87. Left to cherish his memory are his eight children and partners, Yvette (Sheila), Suzanne (Joanne), Gisele (Peggy), Claude (Joey), Denise (Rod), Daniel, Louis, and Joel, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joseph is survived by brothers Edmond and Andre. Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Alma; and his siblings, Fabien, Rosaire, Rose Simard, Cecile Huberdeau, Noella Huberdeau and Yvette. Dad was born in Ste. Marthe, Saskatchewan on September 9, 1928, the seventh child of Edmond Perreault and Marguerite Gagnon. He worked on farms in the St. Lazare area until he was 21 years old. That's where he met and married a young teacher, Alma Desrosiers. They found each other on the 23rd of the month and married three years later on August 23, 1952. Dad then went to work for CN Rail which took him to Saskatoon where they began to raise their family. Carpentry became his chosen profession so he obtained a long-distance diploma in Blueprint and Drafting from Chicago Technical Institute. Dad built everything - from woodsheds and houses, to cabinetry and funeral urns. He loved working with his hands and was known for whistling while he worked. Dad and Mom moved their growing family 16 more times, taking his construction business to small towns in southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. They settled in St. Lazare for a lengthy period, then moved to Ste. Anne where they finished raising their children. Dad worked on construction of La Villa Youville where they eventually retired. He loved square dancing, gardening, canoeing and everything in nature. He helped his children make our own homes better. At his retirement at age 65, Dad took up painting and worked in many mediums: water colours, oils and acrylics. He also repaired statues and antiques. He was active in church and community life and had a particular affection for the Ste. Anne Museum. He always had a twinkle in his beautiful blues eyes for his beloved wife Alma. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at the Ste. Anne Catholic Church. Viewing and prayers will be held at the Church at 9:30 a.m. Ash Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Dad has requested that donations be made to the Southern Health-Santé Sud (In memo line: Bethesda Regional Health Centre - Cancer Unit), Box 470, La Broquerie, MB. They cared for him well when he was battling colon cancer. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

  • -Notre sinceres sympathies pour toute la famille. We're sorry we couldn't be there, but know our thoughts and prayers are with you now. Uncle Joe was a living example of a modern day Renaissance Man. He was creative, artistic, forever curious, adaptive, interested and engaged in everything and everyone around him. This coupled with his personal virtues of loyalty, empathy, and experiential wisdom made him the ideal of a friend, uncle, father, and husband for so many of us. -He and Alma shared many things, among them were a willingness to help out where ever possible and when ever necessary, always enriching all of us who were blessed enough to know them; whether being there for us when we said goodbye to our parents or to "stand-in" for them to give away the bride when the "orphan branch" of the family had a wedding. In much the same way, their home was always open and welcoming for what ever stray family or friend might wander their way. For many of us, it was that witty and loving relationship that epitomized what a successful marriage can and should be. -And so, even though we'll miss his understated sense of humour and mischievous grin, your dad-Uncle Joe-will always be a model to us of a life well lived, and we take solace in the knowledge that somewhere he and Aunt Alma are laughing, together again. - Posted by: Annette, Guy, Roland Desrosiers (Niece and Nephews) on: Oct 15, 2015

  • Mon cher Louis - Je t'offre mes plus sincères sympathies. Your dad was a wonderful man. His smile was contagious and he had a way of making people happy by being around him. He had a quiet strength et sa bonté rayonnait. He and your mom were wonderful examples of love and partnership and I'm sure they are sitting together (or painting together) and watching over you and your family. I'm sorry I couldn't be there today but sending you big hugs. Hope to see you soon. Take care mon ami! - Posted by: Nicole Freynet-Funk (Friend) on: Oct 15, 2015

  • Mes sincères simpathies pour toute la famille. My deepest condolences for Joseph's family. Jos was a very special friend to me and my parents George and Lucille Moreau. He was always ready to help our family and with our home renovations. One of most treasured memories is the art show that Jos and I did in 2004. He had many artistic gifts. He had beautiful paintings. I was blessed with the honour of sharing paintings with him in Ste. Anne's. He will be misssed by many family members and friends. May you all find the strength during this difficult time. - Posted by: Michelle Moreau (Friend) on: Oct 14, 2015
