WILLIAM (BILL) JAMES PLOHMAN Peacefully, at Boundary Trails Health Centre on October 13, 2015, Bill passed away with his loving family by his side, after a short battle with cancer. Bill was born on November 23, 1937 in Kenora, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife Meryl, parents Carl and Margaret Plohman, and sister Carolyn. Survived by his partner Gail, sons Brad (Rhonda), James (Brenda), daughter Jennifer (Tim) and cherished granddaughters Paige and Hailey. Also surviving are his sister Joyce (Mel) of Kenora, brother-in-law Bob (Joan) Ferris, sister-in-law Kay (Paul) Koteck, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In the early years of his career with CP Rail, Bill met and married Meryl. His lengthy career with CP Rail saw Bill and Meryl spending time in many parts of Canada including Kenora, Montreal, Thunder Bay, Vancouver and Winnipeg. They made many friends and had many adventures along the way. Bill enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Lake of the Woods, which he and his family had built over the last thirty years. One of his favorite activities while there was Happy Hour at Pipestone Point Resort with the many friends he made there. Bill also enjoyed curling, cross country skiing and spending time with his granddaughters who brought so much joy to his life. Most mornings he could be found at the Legion having coffee and once a week meeting up with the CP Rail retirees at Smittys. Bill was devastated by the passing of his wife Meryl in 2011, however once again found happiness and companionship with his friend and partner in life Gail Wood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Thanks to the exceptional healthcare providers at CancerCare Manitoba and Boundary Trails Health Centre. Bill was a great person. Always willing to help you on or off the job. It was a pleasure working for him and just sitting down and having coffee. Everyone at CP liked and respected him.
