THERESA MCNAB (RIEGER) Peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2015 with her family at her side Mom passed away. She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Rieger, husband Sigurdur (Sandy) McNab, her son Ross, her brothers John, George and Joseph Rieger and sisters Adeline Herner and Helene Mayer. She is survived by her brother Victor Rieger (Mary), her children: Denise (Rick), Bonnie (Al), Karen (Gord), John, Colin (Gayle). Her grandchildren: Cynthia, Melissa, Troy, Quinn, Tiffany, Nickaela, Katherine, Tristan, Cortnie and Conor. Her great-grandchildren: Kailynn, Dean, Alexis, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Winnipeg on May 27, 1927 and lived and worked in Winnipeg her whole life. Mom was the youngest of seven children. She met Dad at a dance were her sister Adeline literally pushed her towards Dad. Mom and Dad were married on June 5, 1948 at St. Anthony Church and celebrated 56 years together. They enjoyed the camping trips they took every summer with their six children. In her younger years Mom had a beautiful singing voice and loved singing at family gatherings. While we were young, Mom sewed a lot of our clothes, canned and put down all the vegetable from their garden, and baked endless batches of cookies. In her retirement Mom loved knitting for her grandchildren. She made them all sweaters that they cherish to this day, and loads of mittens. Mom and Dad enjoyed their time at their trailer spending many wonderful summers there. Mom still enjoyed her little garden, giving away proudly the vegetables she grew. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles, going out on shopping trips and then out for lunch and of course her knitting, she loved to knit! Family was everything to Mom. She loved nothing better than to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was passionate about her family dinners. She loved to get everyone together and hear us kid about who gets the last meatball, cabbage roll or the last of the turkey stuffing! Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of Mom's life and she wanted to live long enough for them to remember her. Her goal was 99; she was just a little short. She touched lives with her humour and grace and that will be remembered by all who knew her. We will gather to celebrate Mom's life at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Saturday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. Mom's favorite colour was blue so, if you wish to do so, wear some blue for her. Flowers are respectfully declined. Those who wish may make a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. You were like a Mother to me Aunty Theresa and I cherish all the times we spent together each time I visited you in Wpg. You will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. I share your joy now that you are together with Uncle Sandy and Ross and all the family in heaven. We love you. Elaine & Jim - Posted by: Elaine (Mayer) Baxter (neice) on: Oct 19, 2015

You once saved my life Aunt Theresa, when I needed a protected home in my teenage years (Denise was just a baby), and you took me in for two months with my accordion, while I went to high school. I always thought you were so cool!! I am with everyone in Winnipeg in spirit and empathy. Love, Janice (Mayer) Leroux - Posted by: Janice and Leon Leroux (Niece) on: Oct 18, 2015

My thoughts are with the family. I remember delicious Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners. She always made vegetarian options for me. I have missed her since moving back to Ontario. I hope the family can take comfort in their memories of a wonder lady. - Posted by: Sonya Lovegrove () on: Oct 18, 2015

We'll miss your smile and will cherish the memories we have of playing with my cousins at your home, when I was little. Rest with the angels, Auntie Theresa. - Posted by: Felicia & Rod Reid (Theresa was my Great-Aunt) on: Oct 18, 2015
