GORDON KENNETH RICHARD MARSHALL March 22, 1936 - October 11, 2015 Dad passed away peacefully, on October 11, 2015, at the Maples Personal Care home, on a beautiful fall morning with the sun shining. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Nancy, of 53 years; daughter Terri; granddaughters Sheriden, Peyton, and Brooklynn; son Darryl (Debi), granddaughter Caleigh. He was predeceased by his mother Mathilde; mother-in-law Mary; father-in-law Nicholas; father Jack; and sister Connie. He is also survived by many family and friends. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather to his granddaughters. Dad was born in Edmonton, lived in Fort William, and came to Winnipeg as a young man. He married the love of his life, Nancy, on September 8, 1962. Dad has a passion for hockey. Period. As a young man he was the property of the Detroit Red Wings out of Fort William. His love of the NHL continued to his last day watching the puck drop for the 2015-2016 season. Above all he loved his Montreal Canadiens. And did he ever! He was an avid reader, loved working around the house and in the yard, and just loved cars. He could fix practically anything and he would never say no to someone who needed his help. He thoroughly enjoyed working in the tire industry, especially dealing with the highway truck drivers. Dad and Mom travelled extensively with us and when we grew up they continued on. Through Canada, the United States, Mexico, and a Caribbean cruise. Their most memorable trip together was in 2011 cruising through Alaska, and by train and tour bus, over the Arctic Circle and dipping their hands in the Arctic Ocean. They hit a milestone in 2012 being married for 50 years! An open house was hosted by us at Terri's house. A great gathering and they had such a good time! In keeping with Dad's wishes, there will be no formal funeral. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. Special thanks to the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home. Your care of Dad was exceptional and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God bless you all. One or the other must leave, One or the other must stay, One or the other must grieve, That is forever the way. Faithful til death do us part, Braving that what has to be borne, Hiding the ache in the heart, One, how so ever adored, First must be summoned away. That is the will of the Lord, One of the other must stay. Is so desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Arrangements in care of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
