  • I am very sad to hear of the passing of Luis. I worked with Luis at Pacific Junction School for 15 years and he was the backbone of the school. Anything that you needed fixed we always knew that Mr. Barcelona knew how to fix it, and would be very happy to do it. I just found out about Luis's passing and had to send my condolences to you his family. Luis will be missed at P.J. - Posted by: Erin Burdett (Co worker) on: Nov 18, 2015

  • One cannot think of Pacific Junction without remembering Luis. His cheerful presence greeted us each day and he was always willing to go the extra mile to help with any requests. Luis' manner with the students was exceptional - he made each one feel special. Luis' pride in his family was evident and pictures of each new grandchild were always shared. Our condolences to all his family. Luis will be missed by many. - Posted by: Fran Brownlee (Coworker) on: Nov 02, 2015

  • A heart of gold has stopped beating. I worked with Luis for a short time at Pacific Junction and my children attended school there. I remember Luis as a hard working and cheerful man who always had a smile on his face, a song in his heart ( he had a fabulous singing voice ) and was always willing to lend a helping hand. We shared many stories and laughs over the years. I know how incredibly proud he was of all his children and their families. My sincere sympathy to all of you. - Posted by: Ann Roehl (co-worker) on: Oct 22, 2015

  • I worked with Luis first at River West Park and then at Pacific Junction. He was an integral part of our staff. He made the students feel special, often giving out special treats to students who just needed a little recognition. Every concert or special event was documented by Luis with photos that he took and gave to the students and teachers. I remember, with great affection, his chats and stories. Luis took great pride in the accomplishments of his children, he was a proud dad and grandpa. Luis was a kind and generous person and will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Wendy Wagner (Co-worker) on: Oct 21, 2015

  • Our deepest sympathy to the Barcelona Family specially to Gerry and Anggie. - Posted by: Alice fr. BC () on: Oct 21, 2015

  • Mr. Barcelona was MUCH more than a caretaker at PJ. The school has not been the same since he was away and will never be. I miss his smiling face, his cheery, demeanour, his amazing ability to get along with everyone and brief chats in the hallway and classrooms at lunch time. When I found out how old he was a couple of years ago, I thought, wow, does he look good! He will be remembered and missed by many adults and children in the school past and present. • Our heartfelt condolences to the family of late Luis Barcelona. He was a member of Bicol Association of Manitoba for many years and a kababayan of my wife Nila in the same province of Camarines Norte, Philippines. May your soul rest in peace now that you are with our loving God and your wife Purita. - Posted by: Tito and Nila Alejandria (Friends (fellow Bicolano)) on: Oct 21, 2015

  • I worked in the office at Pacific Junction School for many years and Luis was a valued staff member. He was always happy to lend a hand with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes, went far above and beyond the call of duty, helped us get many kids' zippers unstuck, brought us treats, and kept our school clean and shiny. He was a special man and will be missed by his friends and family. Condolences to his family. - Posted by: Lois Forzley (co-worker) on: Oct 21, 2015
