Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAMANDA MEAKIN (nee GAGNON) It is with our deepest sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Amanda Meakin, on October 18, 2015 at Vista Park Lodge at the age of 91. Amanda was predeceased by her husband Leonard Meakin. She is survived by her three children, Brenda Ford, Leonard Meakin (Brigid) and Bert Meakin. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Jennifer, MacKenzie, Kailee, Madison and Megan. Amanda was born in Great Falls, Manitoba on September 13, 1924. She married her husband Leonard on December 30, 1955, and raised their children at our family home on Kingston Row. Amanda was very close to her two sisters, Doris and Josephine . One of her favourite pastimes was playing Bingo with her sisters. Whether it was at the St. Louis Hall or one of the area towns during summers at the lake, she could be seen sitting with her bingo chips and arranging her cards getting ready to play. Mom loved her time at the family cottage at Beaver Creek. We can still see mom in her favourite blue bathing suit with a cup of coffee in hand sitting in her chair on the beach or in the yard. Mom would put that bathing suit on in the morning and not take it off until it cooled off at night. Amanda was a very giving person and always put other's needs before hers. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. The family would like to thank all the compassionate staff of Vista Park Lodge. There will be a Come and Go Memorial held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street. Madeline was my babysitter growing up for several years when my family and I lived on Kingston Row, she took care of me and my siblings and showed us great compassion and love that we will forever be grateful for, and never forget. She made our lives that much brighter and happier just being there for us. I'll never forget visiting her home, and petting her cat Ginger, and her singing "A shave and a hair cut, two bits!" I named my daughter after her. Rest in peace Madeline, we will always miss you. - Posted by: Andrea Ipirq-Scott (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2020
