EDGAR DICK With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our dad, Edgar Dick on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at his home in Carman, Manitoba at the age of 91. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and the love of his life, Hilda with whom he had just celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary; five children, Eugene (Claudette), Ingrid (Henry), Gary (Pattie), Harry (Cindy) and Chris (Sheila); six grandchildren, Shauna (Chris), Jarrod (Kayla), Karla (Bryan), Bruce (Kayla), Kevin, and Paul (Melanie); and three great-grandchildren, Brody, Matthew, and Adam. Dad is also remembered by two sisters, Irma Guenther and Karen Mascioli; one brother Harry (Irma); and one brother-in-law Victor Dueck (Mary). Dad was a man of faith, a man of honour, a man of humility, and had a great love for the land. Dad was born November 25, 1923 in the Ukraine and he with his family immigrated to Canada in 1924, eventually settling on a farm in Culross, Manitoba in 1925. This was home for 65 years until he and mom retired to Carman in 1990. Farming was dad's passion and he took great pride in passing this love on to his sons and grandsons. Many trips in dad's retirement were made to the farm to see how the boys were doing and to check the crops. His family was very important to dad and this was evident in the many family gatherings that took place. Dad will be forever in our hearts. We love you dad. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Carman Mennonite Church with Pastor Karen Schellenberg and Pastor Bob Pauls officiating. Viewing will be at the church prior to the service. Private family interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Manitoba Lung Association. Funeral arrangements by Doyle's Funeral Chapel, Carman, Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Many many fond memories of this great man. A man of few words, but when he spoke..it was usually somewhat profound. He came to visit me with his wife (Hilda/my father's sister) in San Diego. I had just adopted 2 children that came with my wife. My new son said to uncle Edgar "you look really cool with all those lines on your face"..hahahaha..out of the mouth of babes. And Uncle Edgar's response was.."these are tractor lines from sitting on the tractor in the hot sun". Priceless..yes. I'm sorry it's taken me this long to find your obituary. To the entire Dick family..my condolences. And to your mother, thank you for always being so loving. Especially after I crushed my little toe on my left foot to where I now have a hammer toe. Good times lol. - Posted by: Ken Dueck (nephew to Edgar) on: Jul 06, 2020
