LOIS METNER Lois Metner, at the age of 96 years, passed away peacefully at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB on October 22, 2015. As a young mother, Lois raised three daughters after her husband Roy Frohwerk died in an accident in 1946. She met and married Rudy Metner in 1952 and they had four children, living on the family farm in the Moosehorn area. Lois loved her volunteer work and was instrumental in starting and was very involved with many local community groups, namely the Moosehorn Museum, Senior's Handicraft Centre, Wayside Park, Watchorn Beach and the Northwest Interlake Heritage History Book, as well as many community fundraising walks and dinners. Lois was predeceased by her husbands, Rudy Metner in 1986 and by Roy Frohwerk in 1946 along with many other family members. She leaves to mourn her loss, her big hugs and her sweet smile by her seven children Shirley (Roger) Beasse, Beverley (Wally) Nachtigall, Sharon (Wade) Bednarek, MaryAnn (Barry) Cope, Wesley (Marion) Metner, David (Marlene) Metner and Bruce (Bonnie) Metner, as well as 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and longtime friends. She is also survived by three sisters Hazel Marsh, Blanche Martinson and Irma Alderson. Friends and relatives may pay their respects at a viewing to be held between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, MB with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to be held in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery with lunch to follow in the church. Flowers are gratefully declined, however donations in Lois' memory can be made to the Ashern Personal Care Home, PO Box 110, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0.
