WILMAR SIGVALDASON On October 21, 2015, Wilmar Sigvaldason at the age of 86, passed away with his family by his side after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his brothers Barney (Irene), Lloyd (Sigurlin), sister-in-law Hazel Sigvaldason and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Sigvaldi and Lara Sigvaldason, brothers, Alvin Siggs and Edwin and sister-in-law June Siggs. Wilmar's passion was the land and what grew on it. He graduated with an agricultural degree from the University of Manitoba. Although he did not pursue farming, he spent countless hours checking fields and talking about the differences of years ago. He was a gentle man who was proud and content on the life he led which included travelling. He worked hard and enjoyed the construction industry as a backhoe operator. In his later years he spent time restoring and maintaining the historic Gullbringa House. He took pleasure in his daily treks to town for a delicious meal at Zan's. In the evening, he would sit outside and watch the birds but due to deafness, he missed the pleasure of hearing the birds sing. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at Cancer Care and Arborg Hospital. As per Wilmar's request, there will be no funeral. A private family internment will be at a later date.
