SHAUNA ELIZABETH COLLINS 1950 - 2015 Shauna Collins (b. May 8, 1950) died on October 24, 2015. She is survived by her much loved and loving husband Jean Coutu; sister Kath (Art), brother Pat (Hélène), sisters-in-law Claudette, Clémence (Al), Caroline (Gary) and Gertrude, brother-in-law Paul, and several nieces and nephews. To put it most simply, Shauna was a good person, thoughtful, discreet, generous and kind. She made and kept good friends from childhood, university and her long career in early childhood education. All of us share the pain of losing her. Several of their nieces and nephews had very close and special relationships with Shauna and John. As one said, "Your house, and your company, were an oasis." Shauna cared deeply about the importance of quality child care. Generations of children and parents have expressed fond memories of Shauna from their day care years. She was instrumental in establishing the new facility for the River Avenue Co-op Nursery Day Care Center, and they have named their movie room the "Shauna Room" in her memory. Shauna was an avid reader, gardener, cook and traveler, as well as a whimsical collector of rocks, blue glassware and pigs. Her varied interests made her an engaging conversationalist, dinner host or guest. Gratitude and appreciation to everyone at the Victoria Hospital CancerCare, as well as Unit 5, 4th floor Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care for Shauna and sensitive support to family. In lieu of flowers, Shauna and John requested that donations be made to Victoria General Hospital Foundation, for the Buhler Cancer Centre, 2340 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg. MB, R3T 2E8; or to any children's charity of your choice. A gathering of family and friends will be held to honour Shauna's memory on Saturday, November 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). All are welcome. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
