HEINRICH (HENRY) HOLSTEN Peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2015 Heinrich Holsten passed away with his loving wife by his side. He had lived a long and full life of 92 years. Remaining to cherish his memory are: Elly, his wife of 65 years; his children Anne (Andrew), Helmut (Kathy), Betty (Roland), Connie (John); his grandchildren Stephen (Mahwash), Amanda (Marshall), Danny, Vaughn, Chris and Tara and his great-granddaughter Elly. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson Jonathan. Heinrich was born in northern Germany in 1923 and he immigrated to Canada with his young family in 1954. He worked hard in construction and successfully built a new life in Canada for his family. Family was always extremely important to him throughout his life. Heinrich was a quiet man who loved nature and the outdoors. His cottage was his passion and he spent many happy hours there gardening, fishing, and blueberry picking. Upon his retirement, he was able to pursue his interest in travel. With Elly, he travelled extensively in Canada, returned frequently to Germany, and enjoyed the warmth of the Caribbean, Florida, Hawaii and Mexico during the winter. The family would like to thank Dr. Tunovic for his kind and excellent care. Also a big thank you to his Home Care team, especially Olga, Sheila and Sandra, as well as the staff at Concordia Hospital. A private family funeral has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry's name to the mission fund at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 1N9.
