Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE BENSTEAD June 1, 1932 - November 10, 2015 With profound sadness, the family of George Benstead announce his peaceful passing at Selkirk, MB at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his wife Joan (Smale) on April 18, 2006; parents George and Eva; brothers John and Russel and sister Eliza. He is survived by his sons R. Kim (Theresa) and Randy (Debby); his only grandchild Erica (Jason) Teerhuis, great-grandchildren Evan and Presley; sisters June (Whitey) Horsfall and Mavis Crockford; brother Robert; sister-in-law Jesse; brother-in-law George Lafrance and their families. Dad was employed by CP Rail for 36 years, retiring as a General Yard Master on June 30, 1989. He was a Lifetime Member of the West Kildonan Legion, Branch 30. George and Joan spent many enjoyable winters in San Antonio, Texas, where George continued his passion of playing golf. Our family extends our deepest gratitude to the staff of Red River Place Personal Care Home. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Cremation and a private service has taken place.
