CATHERINE ELEANOR CONN It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Eleanor. To cherish her memory Mom leaves; children Leslie (John) and Brian (Nadine), sister Marjorie (Lloyd) Lovell, sisters-in-law Joan Phillips and Marianne Brandow, brother-in-law George Forzley and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by husband Ken, father Gus, mother Violet and brother Bill Phillips. Mom was born in Waterloo, Ontario and shortly after the family moved to Winnipeg. Mom and Dad married in 1949 and lived in Elmwood, East and North Kildonan. Mom cherished the time spent at her Falcon Lake cottage, with family and neighbours. Mom found strength and comfort in her faith. She was a long time member of St. Paul's and Grace Lutheran Churches. She was involved in many Church related activities, such as Sunday school teacher, Grace Seniors Club. She volunteered on the Board of Directors as Treasurer of Trinity Food Panty for over 20 years only giving up the Treasurers job this past May. Mom formed a lasting bond with her sewing circle girlfriends for over 50 years meeting in each other's home they shared their lives while mending and sewing. Until recently, Mom remained active in a long lived Bridge club which she always looked forward to. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. We would like to thank all those who provided care to Mom over the past several months while at Concordia Hospital, Riverview Health Centre Rehabilitation Unit and River Ridge Retirement Residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Some of my best memories are having tea at Auntie Eleanor's. She was always smiling and sending cards for my birthdays. Every visit to Winnipeg my family made, I was always excited to see her. She will be missed and we are always thinking of her. - Posted by: Becky Loudon (Grandniece) on: Nov 17, 2015

  • Aunt Eleanor was a wonderful, hospitable lady. She was always involved in helping others. She was involved with the Trinity Food Pantry for years with Marjorie and Lloyd Lovell, my parents. Whenever I visited, Winipeg, she made sure to invite my family over to her home for an enjoyable time together. My condolences to Leslie, Brian, Nadine and John. - Posted by: Cathy Loudon (Niece) on: Nov 16, 2015
