EVANGELINE EINARSON It is with great sadness the family of Evangeline Einarson announces her passing November 14, 2015 at the Lundar Personal Care Home. Eva is survived by her children Merle Anderson and Grant (Kathy) Einarson, grandchildren Tammy (John) Bergthorson, Ward Howardson, Rob (Craig) Einarson and Ryan Einarson, great-grandchildren Jamie Lee, John, Rachel and Eric Bergthorson, Easton and Liam Einarson, brothers Howard and Robert (Ilean) Malcolm, sisters Irene Bergthorson, Rose Burdett, Judith (Jules) Toews, Valerie Roy, Cora (Tony) Thiessen, sisters-in-law Jocelyn (Tubby) Hordal, Lara Malcolm, brother-in-law Dennis (Brenda) Einarson, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Mary Malcolm, husband Leifur, son Howard (Lucky), son-in-law Conrad Anderson, brother Don Malcolm, sisters Isabel Eirikson, Vick Einarson, Trudy Mathews, and sisters and brothers-in-law. Eva was born July 22, 1928 in Coldsprings, Manitoba and was one of 12 siblings. Eva left school and home at an early age to seek employment. She married Leifur Einarson in 1948 and they were so happily married until Leifur passed away in 2004, after nearly 56 years of marriage. Because Leifur had to work away from home to provide for his family, the task of raising three children and maintaining a home fell on her shoulders and she rose to the challenge. She fed us well, kept us clean, sewed our clothes, kept our home spotlessly clean and did repairs around the house as required. She doled out discipline and loved us unconditionally. Eva's hands were never idle. Even when sitting her hands were busy crocheting, knitting, sewing quilts or clothes, cross stitch, needlepoint, petit point and painting beautiful pictures. In our eyes she was the "Trash to Treasure" queen. She could take any old, sad looking item and create something beautiful. She refinished and upholstered furniture. Her beautifully decorated home and lovely flower gardens were a testament to her talent and creativity. She came from an amazingly, musically talented family. All 12 siblings could play at least one musical instrument and their harmonies when singing together could take your breath away. Eva excelled in playing violin, guitar and five string banjo. To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, Eva and Leifur traveled to England and Scotland. Later she traveled with her sisters to Scotland, Europe and the Atlantic provinces. Eva took up golfing later in life and it became one of her passions, sometimes going to the course twice a day. The grandsons were discussing their favourite things Grandma used to make and went back and forth naming them - tea biscuits, donuts, homemade rice pudding, saskatoon pie, vinaterta, gravy, whipped cream salad and the best scrambled eggs ever. She would be so pleased as she never considered herself a good cook. A special thank you to Dr. Neil Burnet for all his care over the years. According to Eva's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Burial with immediate family present will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eva's memory to the Lundar Coop Golf Course, PO Box 603, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0.
