ELLA KEMILA
Born: Feb 02, 1919
Date of Passing: Nov 13, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLA KEMILA February 2, 1919 - November 13, 2015 Our beloved mother and grandmother, Ella Laura, passed away peacefully at Donwood Personal Care Home on Friday, November 13, 2015. Ella was born to Karl and Lydia (Marsch) Schultz on their farm at Niverville, the sixth of nine children. She is survived by three children, Sylvia Philipps of Winnipeg, Cliff Kemila of Brandon and Beverly Blake of Georgetown, Ontario, son-in-law Steve Blake, daughters-in-law Sharon Kemila and Carole Petrin, one sister, Hilda Hiebert of Rossport, Ontario, grandchildren Kathy, Dale, and Mark Kemila, Lisa Philipps, Owen and Sylvia Blake, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Emil, son Elmer, daughter Clara (Peter Anderson) Kemila, and granddaughter Carol Philipps. After their marriage in 1938 our parents farmed for many years in the Niverville district where she grew up, raising a family of five with everyone actively involved in the community. Ella was a lively, capable and hardworking woman, no matter the task. She always had a large vegetable garden and was an accomplished knitter and sewer, an avid reader, card player, and a life-long Liberal. Following early widowhood in 1968, she moved to Winnipeg, where she worked at Mall Foods until her retirement at age 62. She treated herself with trips to the Maritimes, New Zealand, Australia, and visits to children and grandchildren in Ontario. In later life she contented herself with a few good friends and relatives, her own company, her books and her reminiscences. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for the kind and compassionate care provided to Mom in her final years. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held to honour Ella's life, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Klassen Funeral Home.
