Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALMA ZIMMER (nee BAUER) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alma Zimmer, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on November 18, 2015 at Tudor House Personal Care Home in Selkirk Manitoba. Alma leaves to mourn her passing her husband Alfred of 65 years; sister Pearl Weir; sisters-in-law, Ann Treithart and Alma Zamzow; daughters, Marion (Gordon) Olafson and Janet (Fred) Johnson; sons Ron (Jeanne) Zimmer, Don (Elaine) Zimmer and Bruce (Laurie) Zimmer as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and special friends Jim, Karen, Crystal and James. Alma was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Louisa Bauer, brothers Henry, Louis and Victor, sisters Shirley, Mary, Lily and Margaret. Alma was born on December 4, 1931 in the Hillsburg district of Manitoba near Roblin. Mom grew up on the family farm near Shevlin where she attended school and was baptized and confirmed as a member of St. John's Lutheran church. On June 9, 1950, she married Alfred Zimmer and they lived on their farm near Inglis, Manitoba where she raised four of her five children. In 1963, the family moved to Winnipeg and in 1970 their fifth child was born. In 2010, Alma and Alfred moved to a retirement home in Selkirk, Manitoba. Alma loved to go for long walks, bake Smartie cookies for her grandchildren, work in the garden and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was faithful to God as a long term member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Winnipeg. Her favorite pastime was bingo and she would spend many evenings at local community clubs playing bingo with her friends. In retirement Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling with and took several trips to British Columbia and California to visit family and friends. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Tudor House Personal Care Home for the love and care they have provided Alma in the last years of her life. Donations in memory of Alma may be made to Bethany South Cemetery fund c/o Bethany Lutheran Church Box 196, Inglis Manitoba, R0J 0X0 or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., R3C 4G2. Funeral services to be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St. in Winnipeg on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., viewing prior to the service. Interment will take place at Bethany South Cemetery in Inglis Manitoba at 1:00 p.m. on November 24, 2015 with a fellowship to follow at Bethany Lutheran Church in Inglis.
