Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGILBERT (GIBBY) CARMICHAEL March 30, 1928 - November 21, 2015 Peacefully, and surrounded by his family, Gibby joined the love of his life, Betty, after eight long years being apart. Gibby is survived by his daughters Linda, Julie (Alex), and son Gilbert (Julie); also by his grandchildren Raymond, Alexander, Kirstin, Sarah and Austin. He is also survived by his brother Jim in Scotland. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Chummy by only eight days. Gibby served in Palestine with the HLI in one of the early peace keeping missions in that area just after the Second World War. He retired from the C.N.R. in 1990 after 27 years of service as a machinist. He was also heavily involved in the Union as a local chairman. Gibby was very passionate about his Union work and worker's rights and was proud of his service to his men. There will be a private family service at Dakota House where Gibby happily spent his final years. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

During my career @ CNR, Gibby was one of the best union advocates we ever had. Great guy, approachable, friendly, focused and a fierce determination to do the best to protect the rights of the union people he represented. Job well done. My condolences to family and friends. - Posted by: Doug (CNR fellow employee) on: Nov 30, 2015

Dear Linda & Raymond. We are very saddened for your loss. The loss of your dad & Chummy in such a short period of time is extremely difficult. We keep you in our prayers and thoughts as you grieve the loss of the two most important men in your lives and mourn their absence in your lives. Love you both. - Posted by: Claudette Moquin & Harm Bouwman (Cousins of Chummy) on: Nov 26, 2015
