Annie Laurie lived in Gimli, Manitoba for the past 39 years, previously residing in Quebec. Beloved wife of Nelson Tomalty and loving mother of Laurie (Jim), Ed (Beth), Kathleen (Dave), and Bonnie (Tim). Proud grandmother of Christopher, Conner, Addison, Ally, Tristan, Nicholas, Bailey, Emma, and Aislinn. Sister-in-law of Kenneth (Wilda) Tomalty of Pembroke, ON. Daughter of the late Ernest Burk and Annie Silverson of Lachute, QC. Predeceased by sisters Alida (Witham), Elizabeth (McElroy), and Margaret (Gordon). Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, 50 - 1st Ave., Gimli. ANNIE LAURIE TOMALTY On Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Annie Tomalty, aged 74 years of Gimli, Manitoba, beloved wife of Nelson passed away. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli, Manitoba. Full obituary to follow in Monday's paper. One of the first friends we met. Shared many fun times with Annie Laurie and Nelson. Dinners at their house and ours, enjoyed their visit to AZ. In '95. Dear Laurie and family, so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom, my heart goes out to you all. The first memory that popped into mind was of the mass sleepover she allowed us to have at your house in Aspen Park, I think there were six of us junior high girls sleeping on the living room floor and then making breakfast for us the next morning and sending us off to school, she was a super cool mom in my opinion , may all the good memories bring you comfort. - Posted by: Betty (Schmidt) Kunst (Friend) on: Dec 02, 2015

Dave and I were saddened to hear the news of Annie Laurie's passing. She was a kind hearted, caring and sensible woman who loved and supported her family with out judgement and unconditional love. She was always proud of her children and grand children. A quiet soul who will be missed by many. As we have both lost our mothers we can tell you that you will never forget her and will always miss her, but memories will fill the deep hole in your hearts to ease your pain. You will always keep her near and dear to you and remember her at the oddest times which will cause to laugh, smile or burst into tears. Annie Laurie was a devoted wife and mother. She was a quiet lady with a very pleasant way about her. We did not know her as well as we would have liked but meeting her at coffee in the mornings we grew to admire and respect her. We know she will deeply missed by Nelson and her family.
