ANTHONY CEWICK On Friday, November 27, 2015, Anthony (Tony) Cewick, 96, went to be with his parents, Michael and Anna (Buksak) Cewick; his brothers: Walter; Frank; the twins Bill and Joe; his sisters Nellie Ferdun and Pauline Skwara as well as his sister-in-law Agnes and brother-in-law Rudy. Tony was a loving, kind soul who will be greatly missed by his wife of 68 years, France (Arnaud); daughters Jacqueline (Don) Murphy, children: Stephanie, Bryce (Joyet); Marilynn (Art) Schultz, children: Amanda (Colin), Heather (Alex); and Elaine, as well as his sisters-in-law - Verna Ball and Minnie Cewick, plus numerous nephews and nieces. Tony was born in Rathwell, MB, September 18, 1919, residing in Rathwell until 1947. In 1941 he was called for service and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. It was during his service that Tony learned his life trade as an automotive mechanic. Tony and France married on July 26, 1947 and they resided in St. Claude, MB until 1951, at which time they moved to Winnipeg. In 1984 Tony retired from River East School Division and together they traveled to Europe several times, as well as the British Isles, Hawaii and Australia, plus trips to Saskatchewan and Alberta. Tony spent countless hours helping his children build/repair houses, cottages and cars. He had a bountiful garden each year, liked picking berries, playing cards and loved his lottery tickets. His family sincerely thanks the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge for their kindness and the care they provided him. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fred Douglas Foundation Inc. or Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba.
